Over the last few weeks, we've been looking at developing the surf fitness and exercise section of the site. We've been lucky enough to team up with Lee Stanbury, a surfing fitness guru . (You can find out more about Lee here. It was Lee who put us onto the Powerstroke Cord). So, without further ado, let's take a look at The Complete Guide to Surfing Fitness.
All round fitness is incredibly important if you want to become a proficient surfer. If you can get into good shape, you'll catch more waves, and spend more time in the water developing your technique. Now there's a guide that can help you improve your fitness, strength and flexibility, and it's been written specifically for surfers.
The guide is packed full of exercises for surfers of all fitness levels. Each section in the book deals with a different set of exercises, from mobility and flexibility, and includes bench training, free weights, indo boards, warm ups and cool downs. The exercise descriptions are easy to follow, and each set of exercise includes step by step, annotated images .
Follow the guide and you'll learn how to:
Another bonus is that the guide can be used as a stand alone fitness program, without the need to purchase any other equipment, or have access to a gym. Work your way through the book, move from the basic to the advanced topics, and tailor your fitness program throughout. You'll soon be fitter and stronger, and as a result, become a better surfer.
Easy to follow, varied exercise
This guide is ideal for surfers who cannot surf regularly, but still wish to keep a good fitness level. It comes highly recommended, and is currently available to buy, RRP £19.99

I am turning 50 coming March 2013.. One of the things on my bucket list is to Surf. I used to be in great physical shape in my younger days and quite athletic. Due to aging, 5 knee surgerys, 2 children and life...I no longer am and feel discouraged most of the time. A friend of mine who is 60 took me and let me watch...really watch....next thing I knew I was in the water and really found that passion again. I know what it takes to be in shape but it truly is different now. This information has given me a "guide" to freedom. Thank you!!
Hi T, welcome to Surfing Waves!

I read the information given above and I want to tell that I also love surfing but in my starting I was scared to do that and the reason behind this is that I was not a slim fit person, I was very fatty. Then I joined total surfing fitness and believe me they turned me into a new personality and today I am a great surfer for more information just go through the link: http://www.totalsurfingfitness.com/
This is so awesome! I've surfer once, but wasn't very good. I'm in bad shape physically, but I'm really looking forward to changing my body and health for the better. My bucket list is surfing on every continent in the world. Wish me luck!
