The Ryde Surf Clothing

A little while back a nice little package arrived in the mail from the guys over at The Ryde. In case you've not come across them we'll give you a few quick facts:

The Ryde are a real breath of fresh air with their original designs, nicely ignoring the current trends that the mainstream brands follow. The company, based in Laguna Beach in California, have been up and running since '02 and have built up quite a following - it's not hard to see why. With the original, cool, retro surf art designs they consistently come up with it's not hard to see why.

The Ryde was the brainchild of Mike Figueroa and Matthew Allen who first met in design class back around '00. Mike was brought up in San Diego County, his first surfboard was a 6'2" thruster that he purchased for $25 at a garage sale. Matthew was raised in Mission Viejo, California and taught himself to surf in the waves off Dana Point and San Clemente . As his love for surfing grew, so did his interest in art.

The art for The Ryde has been a blend of Mike's concepts and Matt's execution with cameos by a few other artists. Many of the designs begin as ideas in Mike's head and are brought to life through Matt's hands. Others come straight from Matt's sketchbook.

The Ryde's main product is the t-shirt range although more fleeces & sweats are starting to make their way onto the product pages. This is great news as increasing their product line can only be a good thing. They also have a big range of baby tees which just look sooo cute!

One word of warning. Do take care and follow the washing instructions, one of the tees was reduced from surf art to dish rag after one cycle - our fault entirely though, tisk tisk!

All in all it looks like The Ryde get the thumbs up. We can't wait for their boardshorts - good work Guys!
