The Newquay of Ireland! Lahinch (Lehinch) has a few different waves. The easiest and the best for beginners is the main beach break. There are left and rights to surf and when it is breaking it is usually pretty mellow. Great to begin with before moving onto some of the better waves in the area.
Beach can be dangerous at high tide due to access, so avoid 2 hrs either side of high tide unless experienced.
There are a number of reefs right in town too. three left handers, Cornish , Outer cornish, Cregg. Check out what is happening surfwize at the Lahinch Surf Shop website lahinchsurfshop.com. They also have a webcam if you want an eyeball surf check.
